STV's Rail Group in Chicago is looking for an experienced and motivated Construction Manager to join our highly skilled Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in managing rail and transit construction projects. The candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with class 1 freight railroads and passenger systems such as CSX, Metra, and CTA both in the Chicago area and across the country.

We are looking for a construction manager who is experienced in the Chicago market, is looking to join a local team with a deep bench of technical rail engineers and bolster a national practice of talented rail professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage rail projects from preconstruction through construction and commissioning

  • Develop project scope, budget, and schedule

  • Review and evaluate submittals related to design, RFIs, inspection reports, payment applications and be responsible for contract compliance on behalf of our clients

  • Oversee Quality Management on behalf of the client, managing the designer, construction management, and general contractor.

  • Coordinate Railroad force account work for scheduling and coordination with the general contractor's work.

  • Reviews change orders, supplemental agreements, memorandum agreements and extra work orders, reviews monthly, and final estimates prior to submittal.

  • Reviews Contractor project schedules and reports project progress.

  • Expected to perform project field visits regularly or work at project field offices as needed.

  • Manage the construction permitting effort.

  • Proactively collaborate with various teams including client PMs, designers, contractors, and public stakeholders to successfully deliver projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction Management

  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering (P.E.) license and CCM certification

  • 5+ years of experience in managing rail (or other transportation) construction projects

  • Strong understanding of rail construction practices and working knowledge of track, traction power, communications, signaling, and structural systems

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with desire to work closely with clients, contractors and other stakeholders

  • A strong desire to work on large multi-disciplinary rail projects with fast paced schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills

Compensation Range:

$94,020.00 - $125,360.00
