Job Summary

The WIC Clerk Performs all clerical functions of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) under the supervision of the WIC Supervisor. This includes: issuing vouchers, enrolling participants, scheduling appointments, performing data entry, and ensuring the security of vouchers.

Responsibilities

* Enroll clients into the WIC Program and issue vouchers according to State, Federal, and District regulations.

* Maintains E-WIC Card security in clinic areas according to program regulations.

* Maintains meeting processing standards by offering prenatal clients and infants appointments within 10 days.

* Calls clients with appointments, 2 days in advance as a reminder and to increase client caseload.

* Covers in all WIC clinics at GHS- Infant and Maternal WIC clinic.

* Performs computer input necessary for program operations and manual processes when the system is not available.

* Performs filing duties as directed and updates/terminates files regularly as directed by Clerical Coordinator or WIC supervisor.

* Receives and handles telephone calls from WIC participants and potential participants inquiring about the program, requesting appointments, rescheduling missed appointments, and having other concerns involving the program.

* Performs outreach to clients who have missed appointments or pick-up voucher dates.

* Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED is required.

Must be able to speak fluently in both English and Spanish.

* Preferred: Two years of experience as a WIC Clinic Clerk preferred.
