Job Summary:

Along with other assigned tasks, the hotel housekeeping lead serves as a lead worker in in the housekeeping department and is responsible for overseeing and assisting with training of staff. Prepares daily work assignments and any major duties or tasks of the day. Provides support to and assists housekeepers with room cleans, issues supplies / equipment, stripping / removal of dirty items from checkouts, and inspects work of employees and reports any issues to management. Maintains stock and organization of housekeeping closets and storage.

Is responsible for ensuring that hotel rooms and public areas are kept in clean and orderly condition in line with hotel policies, procedures, and guest satisfaction. Will have direct contact with hotel guests / clientele which requires excellent customer service abilities.

The housekeeping lead works under the supervision and reports to the housekeeping supervisors and hotel / housekeeping managers.


Responsibilities:
Cleans and attends to guest's needs in rooms, including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and replacing amenities. Stocks supplies and reports damages/repairs to supervisory staff and cleans building common areas.

  • 35% Cleans rooms as assigned and according to guest requests
  • 10% Cleans and maintains hallways and common guest areas
  • 15% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment and requests additional supplies as needed
  • 10% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and other building needs
  • 10% Directs relations and interactions with customers to accommodate their needs
  • 10% Serves as lead worker. Assists in training and guiding new staff. Leads the housekeeping work of others and responds to housekeeping emergencies. Inspects and certifies rooms cleaned by other housekeepers
  • 10% Duties include: Laundry / dishwashing operations, opening housekeeping workdays / setting up task assignments, removal of trash and recycling.

Salary:

Minimum $18.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
-Plus an additional $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6pm-6am).
-Plus an additional $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked.
-Plus Time and a half per hour for hours worked on designated legal
holidays.

Additional Information:

The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.
