Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain compliance with company policies for accreditation.
  • Complete an initial dental screening on all new commitments within seven (7) days.
  • Evaluate patients needing or applying for dental care.
  • Take impressions for dental plates and send prostheses to outside dental labs.
  • Formulate and create individual treatment plans after a thorough exam.
  • Perform routine cleaning, drilling, filling, and extraction of teeth following National Commission for Correctional Health Care Standards for dental care.
  • Teach about diet, flossing, use of fluoride, and other aspects of dental care.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented dental conditions.
  • Produce clear and concise health records, reports, and correspondence, including the use of Electronic Health Records system.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Provide in-service training for health staff members (dental hygiene, dental care, dental emergencies, and techniques).
  • Supervise professional, technical, and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital medical team, Psychiatric, Mental Health Professionals, Nurses, Health Technicians, and Administrative Assistants.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge (attend workshops/seminars/conferences, review professional publications, etc.)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in dentistry from an accredited dental school required. Licensed to practice as a registered dentist in the state in which the facility is located is required.
  • Professional license must remain on file at all times at the facility where services are rendered.
