The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Autism Programs at the CDD is a large, multi-faceted program with multiple funding streams and projects that support individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their families to live the life of their choosing. This is accomplished through clinical evaluation/diagnosis, extensive community training, parent mediated training, consultations and technical assistance.

The Autism Programs is expanding its services to include specific interventions and supports for individuals with ASD/IDD and their families who also experience mental/behavioral health challenges. The START program is being implemented with support from the National Center for START services. This exciting new program will develop interdisciplinary teams to utilize evidenced-informed models of supports and interventions as well as to provide community capacity training, consultation and technical assistance in these specific areas and will be guided by principles of Positive Psychology and Strengths-Based Practices.

The Administrative Assistant 2 position will provide administrative support to the START program. The AA2 will be a part of a team to support the AODD division, purchasing supplies and materials with a UNM purchasing card, travel reimbursements as well as other financial activities. The individual will perform data entry and assist with editing and proofing documents. This individual will also support the work efforts of the professional visiting team for both programs on a daily basis.
