The Opportunity

  • Reliability & Mechanical Integrity Subject Matter Expert (SME) at a growth-oriented energy company

  • Work within a small group to provide functional expertise critical to our commitment to operational excellence and safety across the different refining and logistics locations

  • Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide Reliability & Mechanical Integrity program to ensure mechanical integrity of equipment and systems across the organization.

  • Reporting to the Vice President, Operational Excellence, you will provide exemplary customer service to our different locations within the Refining & Logistics organization as well as senior management.

Key activities include:

  • Support achievement of reliability improvements through leadership for people, processes and tools contributing to reliable refinery operations.

  • Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve the performance, availability, and longevity of critical equipment and systems.

  • Conduct reliability analyses, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).

  • Provide expertise in the assessment, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical integrity programs for pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, and other mechanical assets.

  • Oversee inspections, testing, and evaluations of mechanical systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., API, ASME, OSHA).

  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend proactive maintenance actions.

  • Develop and implement risk-based inspection (RBI) programs to prioritize maintenance and inspection activities based on risk assessments.

  • Ensure that all mechanical integrity activities are documented, and records are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that all reliability and mechanical integrity practices comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

  • Stay informed about advancements in reliability and mechanical integrity technologies and standards to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of best practices.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment reliability and mechanical integrity.

  • Implement initiatives to optimize maintenance practices, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

  • Prepare and present reports on reliability and mechanical integrity performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and recommendations for improvement, as required

  • Ensure each refinery maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of reliability and mechanical integrity activities, including inspection reports, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical engineering required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in reliability engineering, mechanical integrity, or a related field, preferably in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing.

  • Extensive experience in the inspection, assessment, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.

  • Strong expertise in reliability analysis, maintenance strategies, and mechanical integrity standards.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in reliability engineering tools and mechanical integrity software.

  • Strong work ethic, adaptability, accountability and resilience.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to lead the Reliability & Mechanical Integrity capability across the organization to drive continuous improvement and optimize asset performance through their influence and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and operations.

  • Be willing to travel and spend time at the field locations in Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Hawaii 30% of the time with peaks up to 50% in a month.

  • Be proactive and willing to roll up their sleeves and work "hands on" with the local teams to execute their mission.

Our Refineries and Logistics Operations
