Responsible for on-site/on-line supervision of Specialty Pharmacy Technician 3s and MOSC 4s. Responsible for daily management of operations. Responsible for supervision, staff development and assessment of staff competency for technicians. Manages daily scheduling of technicians and MOSCs to accomplish daily duty assignments. Works with the Specialty Pharmacy management team to identify areas of improvement and solutions through integration of pharmacy resources. Responsible for continuous quality improvement and investigation and remedy of incident reports in responsible areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• California Board of Pharmacy Technician License (unrestricted).
• Prior experience working in a Specialty Pharmacy (or equivalent).
• Recent working experience in a outpatient/ambulatory pharmacy setting.
• Experience in Epic EMR & Willow Ambulatory, or similar specialty pharmacy case management systems or clinical software & pharmacy dispensing system.
• Experience in navigating pharmacy benefits, understanding of insurance formularies, submitting prior authorizations, and enrolling patient in financial assistance programs.
• Recent working knowledge of outpatient pharmacy dispensing and third-party billing.
• Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law.
• Demonstrated compliance with all pharmacy laws, rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training/education program or certification.
• Prior experience in Health System Pharmacy, or Pharmacy Benefit Management.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Academic medical center experience.
• Experience with bargaining units and labor relations.
• Experience in ensuring compliance of operations to specialty pharmacy accrediting bodies [i.e., Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), The Joint Commission (TJC), Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC), etc.).
• Experience in MS Office suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Access).

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
