Job Summary

#CA-DS

With a high degree of autonomy, this position supervises several critical areas and is responsible for oversight of the Facilities Support Unit within the Capital Finance Department in Financial Services Administration. Responsibilities include partnering with internal and external departments to manage the financial lifecycle of the construction project procurement process from initial budget approval through final payments and completing the fixed asset capitalization. This position will collaborate with the Finance department to implement the capital outlay program and will partner with Facilities Planning to manage the capital approval process for construction projects. Additional responsibilities include working closely with the Facilities Planning & Development (FP&D) Systems Analyst to ensure the project management system used by FP&D includes appropriate financial controls regarding project budget approvals and commitment of UCD Health funds. This position will also support the Lawson Expansion project (LEAP) for capital configuration and implementation and will be a key resource after go-live to revise internal processes as needed to successfully transition to the new ERP system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a combination of experience, education and/or training required.
  • Several years of Construction Accounting/Financial Management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated professional level of analytical, statistical and mathematical skills to conduct complex quantitative analyses. Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze, sort and accurately report on large volumes of data in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand issues related to data validation, data flow between systems and their implications for management reporting.
  • Ability to establish priorities, take initiative to follow up on projects, and develop innovative solutions to difficult or unusual problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy environment with changing or conflicting priorities, under tight deadlines and requirements for accuracy.
  • Ability to apply identified strategic objectives without specific direction to a wide range of situations. Respect for institutional policies, procedures, system and interrelationships.
  • Ability to learn, use/interpret a variety of manuals, directives, bulletins, and other internal documents including UC policy, accounting manual, facilities manual, and UCOP and Chancellor's Office directives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accountancy or Finance is desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate both orally and in writing in a professional, tactful and effective manner with a broad range of individual styles and managerial levels.Proficiency in an array of computer applications, and ability to learn new applications as needed.Ability to prepare and present materials to senior management.Ability to supervise and assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with many individuals. Flexibility in approaches and ability to work in a team format.
