OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content. JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Manage daily news coverage for television, digital and social platforms
  • Motivate and coach news team for creative storytelling and showcasing
  • Respond quickly to breaking news with coverage on all platforms
  • Ensure accuracy of news broadcasts and digital/social content
  • Review reporter scripts
  • Provide regular feedback for news team members
  • Support VP/News on hiring and employee relations issues as well as annual performance appraisal process
  • Prepare schedules and handle vacation requests
  • Identify social media opportunities to increase digital and social metrics
  • Oversee content on mobile and connected TV app.
  • Ensure effective communication with digital producers
  • Demonstrate strong editorial judgment
  • Manage big event coverage and specials/enterprise stories
  • Adhere to all professional broadcast journalism and online journalism standards in regard to legal and ethical issues
  • Work with management team to ensure accountability and efficiency among those they supervise
  • Work with station attorney on legal matters
  • Work with staff to reinforce station brands
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments in station projects and marketing campaigns
  • Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Complete exempt time sheet completely, accurately and on deadline
  • Work varied hours, holidays, weekends and during severe weather/breaking news situations as needed and/or scheduled

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Regularly stand; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; and; talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous broadcast news management experience

EDUCATION: College degree preferred in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or communications

OTHER: Outstanding storytelling and people skills. Strong leadership abilities and detail oriented
