Overview The Nurse Education Specialist manages the onboarding process, supervises competency processes, and assesses learning needs of the clinical staff for the assigned section. The Nurse Education Specialist develops education plans and may directly educate or facilitate learning experiences for clinical staff. This role does not manage staff and must work in collaboration with the leadership team to ensure organizational and department goals are met. Why Nationwide Children's Hospital? Responsibilities 1. Manages new hire orientations, orientation/onboarding process, preceptor development and unit/area-based skills education for float staff, nurse residency, nursing students that may be placed on assigned team. 2. Collaborates with leadership, Professional Development, or other stakeholders on education, competency, and staff development needs of clinical staff. 3. Educates/presents in formal classroom style events or informal group or individual sessions and facilitates educational sessions for clinical education, skills day training, just-in-time training needs, or other identified learning opportunities. 4. Participates, serves as consultant, or facilitates on committees or projects as identified by leadership.5. Serves as communication partner with leadership team to disseminate information to the clinical team using adult learning principles. This may include managing processes such as communication in a monthly newsletter. Qualifications EDUCATION: MSN or related field required. LICENSURE: RN, State of Ohio CERTIFICATIONS: Preferred Certification in Professional Development/Education, Leadership or Clinical Specialty EXPERIENCE: Minimum 6 years of experience as an RN required, pediatric experience preferred MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Occasionally: 1-33% of time (0.5-2.5 hours) Bend/twistSquat/kneelClimb stairs/ laddersReaching above shoulderLifting up to 40 LBS.
