Overview

The NCH High School Career Academy is a six-month program that introduces students to various health care professional tracks through shadowing experiences, with the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized credentials.

This program is available to high school students who are in the 11th or 12th grade. Students will be required to attend two sessions per month (4:30pm - 8:00pm) and will earn $12 per hour.

Responsibilities

Program elements include but are not limited to:

    Medical terminology, HIPAA and CPR training
  • Will complete components of the Ohio Means Job readiness seal
  • Will learn how certifications lead to career pathways at Nationwide Children's
  • Opportunities to meet with clinical and non-clinical staff from various in-demand departments
    • Gain hands-on experience in an environment that develops leadership character and confidence

towards navigating a successful health care career

  • Will learn about employer tuition assistance for education and career advancement


Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High school student. Administration.

SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work within teams and maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires management and completion of multiple tasks? Demonstrates sound judgment and ability to apply logical/critical thought processes when developing solutions.
  • Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians. EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience preferred however not required.
