With its broad and multidisciplinary faculty expertise, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute ( EOHSI) is an international resource that supports basic and clinical research in environmental health sciences and exposure assessment and fosters associated programs in environmental health education and public policy.

Established in 1986, EOHSI's major objectives are to:

  • Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
  • Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures.
  • Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures.
  • Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks.
  • Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.


The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has opening for a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Division within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ. Under Supervision , provides administrative support for mental health assessment and treatment for a Federally Contracted Health Program., assists in the planning and support of activities to benefit the patient population, performs related work as required.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates administrative aspects of program to assure compliance with all funding regulations, procedures, and level of service mandates.
  • Perform data entry of existing mental health questionnaires.
  • Promotes program in the community, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with referral sources and collaborating providers
  • Input data into multiple databases including but not limited to the EMR system.
  • Opportunity to co-facilitate clinical services with doctoral-level psychology interns, externs and Licensed Social Workers.
  • Approximately 16 hours will be spent doing data entry under WTC contract. Approximately 6 hours will be spent in conducting group programmatic sessions with lead clinician and other group members.

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Four (4) years of full-time experience in the mental health field or a bachelor's degree in a relevant social or health care field.
  • One year of experience in mental health administration in a federal health program. Experience in treatment of trauma-related disorders. Experience in various treatment modalities, including individual & group treatment. Knowledge of community resources, social service, and mental health systems. Knowledge of appropriate clinical interventions in a crisis and non-crisis situation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including computer literacy and ability to use an electronic medical record (EMR).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Applied Psychology (MAP), Master of Science in Counseling (MSC), Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (MAPC) or equivalent master's in human services is Preferred.
