Position Description

At Modine Manufacturing Company, Jefferson City, MO. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team with process improvement experience who can quantitatively assess current business system performance and execute change to reduce cost, optimize throughput, and develop standards.

The main objective for this Industrial Engineer is to improve efficiencies and eliminate waste in the manufacturing plant. The position will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or product quality. The ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment is critical to success at Modine. The ideal candidate for this position has a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related field, along with experience working in a Medium/Fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct time studies, define manufacturing costs, and develop/implement/maintain work standards and manufacturing documentation (Operational Method Sheets, routings, etc.).
  • Create and maintain Value Stream Maps and manufacturing cell layouts.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles like Kizan, 8type of waste reduction, visual factory, SMED (Single minute Exchange of Die), one piece flow, problem solving, 5S, TPM principles etc. while working on productivity improvement projects
  • Lead the identification, scoping, and execution of projects to improve production efficiency and throughput, in collaboration with supervisors, factory managers, engineers, and other associates.
  • Initiate, lead, participate, and provide training (problem solving, work flexing, etc.) required to effectively complete improvement efforts.
  • Review errors and rework to determine root causesand recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify, quantify, compare, and execute process improvements to drive safety, workplace ergonomics, repair quality, performance, capital utilization, demand attainment, warehousing, and logistics strategies.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze production capacity and recommend adjustments to meet demand fluctuations effectively.
  • Resource Allocation: Optimize staffing levels, equipment utilization, and resource allocation to align with production goals.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data analysis to make informed decisions and continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements.
  • Partner with factory managers to sustain improvements.
  • Participate in Operating System activities that include daily communication meetings, department performance monitoring and problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships with individuals in all organizational levels, both internally and externally to the plant.
  • Actively advocate behavior-based safety in all aspects of plant operations, adhere to company and site-specific safety policies, practices, and programs.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent engineering field; Master's degree a plus
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence attitudes and behaviors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems, lead projects, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution of projects including the ability to identify and act upon potential improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement Tools (Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, Problem Solving Tools, Setup Reduction, Lean Management, Visual Controls, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of 2D/3D layout in AutoCAD, SolidEdge, Solid works
  • Advanced-level MS Office skills (primarily Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Analytics (SQL, Python)
  • Scale manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, perform, and implement mathematical concepts of Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or relevant equivalencies.
  • Experience in metal fabrication areas like laser, press brakes, paint, manual and robot Welding, assembly of low volume-high mix scenarios preferred.
  • Six Sigma and/or project management experience a plus.
  • SAP and MS Project experience preferred.
