About the unit

Aero Med and North Flight Aero Med provides scene flight services, interfacility transports and specialty services, such as, neonatal transports intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricle assist device transports, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECHMO) transports. The medical team consist of two certified flight registered nurses with paramedic certifications. The team specializes in caring for and transporting the most critically ill patients. They have extensive training and experience in drip, ventilator and airway management.

Location

Aero Med is located in Grand Rapids MI and operates a S76 Helicopter. North Flight Aero Med is located in Traverse City, MI and operates two aircraft a S76 Helicopter and a King Air 200 fixed wing for patient transports.

Scope of Work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

  • 3 years relevant experience critical care or Emergency department experience

  • Michigan Driver's License

  • RN License required on hire

  • ACLS required on hire

  • BLS required on hire

  • PALS required 180 days after hire

  • NRP required 180 days after hire

  • TNCC or ATCN required 180 days after hire

  • ITLS or PHTLS required 1 year after hire

  • Paramedic License required 1 year after hire\PFCCS required 2 years after hire

  • CFRN required 2 years after hire
