Be Inspired By the Work You Do
If you want to change the world, one patient at a time, we'd love you to consider joining our team. OneWorld Community Health Centers is a growing Omaha-based organization that employs over 500 people while still retaining a true family feel. Out of 1,400+ Community Health Centers nationwide, OneWorld ranks within the top 2% in terms of clinical outcomes. It takes all of us, with our various talents and positions, to achieve results like this. Our employees are united by a desire to help the community, and it shows. We are looking for a mission driven Entry-Mid Level Dental Assistant to join our team! This is a full-time position located in West Omaha. The schedule will be 40 hours per week; generally, Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. Entry-Level Dental Assistants (DA) perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills as they relate to patient care, laboratory duties, and office duties. They work chairside as Dentists examine and treat patients. They make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. The DA hands instruments and materials to the Dentist, and they keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. The DA also sterilizes/disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Entry-Level Dental Assistants are either Dental Assistants who are receiving on-the-job training or new graduates from a dental assisting program. Entry-Level Dental Assistants are expected to use each patient encounter for skills development. It is within protocol to seek assistance for processes that are new, but it is expected that the Entry-Level Dental Assistants will reduce dependence on others after reasonable exposure to new job duties. It is the intent that Entry-Level Dental Assistants advance to a Level I Dental Assistant position within six months. QUALIFICATIONS:
Level I Dental Assistants (DA I) perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills as they relate to patient care, laboratory duties, and office duties. They work chairside as Dentists examine and treat patients. They make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. The DA I hands instruments and materials to the Dentist, and they keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. The DA I also sterilizes/disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Level I Dental Assistants are the first "non-training" level of Dental Assistants, having recently graduated from a dental assisting program or on-the job training. Level I Dental Assistants focus on moving from competency in required skills to proficiency in those skills. Level I DAs typically have between 0-4 years of experience. Advancement is not strictly dictated by time, but rather the ability to demonstrate competent skills with consistency. QUALIFICATIONS:
Level II Dental Assistants (DA II) perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills as they relate to patient care, laboratory duties, and office duties. They work chairside as Dentists examine and treat patients. They make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. The DA II hands instruments and materials to the Dentist, and they keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. The DA II also sterilizes/disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Level II Dental Assistants reflect improved skills and job independence above Level I. DA's in this category are expected to be proficient, rather than competent, and are in the process of gaining mastery level skills working toward Licensed Dental Assistant certification. Level II Dental Assistants are given more difficult chairside cases and lab work assignments. Level II DAs typically have between 2-10 years of experience. Advancement is not strictly dictated by time, but rather the ability to demonstrate proficient skills with consistency. QUALIFICATIONS:
