The successful applicant will provide Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) flight test engineering and management of budget and squadron operations for ground and flight test efforts in support of SOCOM Special Operations AC/MC-130J aircraft and other PEO Fixed Wing programs. Tasks will include; support of development, testing, training, and fielding of urgent special operations capabilities; assisting in development and execution of acquisition strategies to modify, procure, and field precision guided weapons; supporting operations officer in the scheduling and execution of over 500 annual tests, provide relevant operations knowledge to USSOCOM/AFSOC test efforts, and ensuring standardized processes across all test teams.

* Assist in directing squadron efforts to meet programmatic timelines and overcome resource and schedule challenges
* Issuance, and closure of documentation relating to work performed on the aircraft
* Clearance for flight (aircraft and hardware/software subsystems)
* Facilitate the safety coordination process, and coordination of aircraft modifications

Responsibilities

Provide flight test engineering expertise to USSOCOM weapon system development.
* Act as Test Director for instrumentation and data collection assets
* Support management of budget and squadron operations for ground and flight test efforts
* Lead and participate in flight test event planning, test execution, data management, data collection and data distribution
* Develop and review test objectives, plans and other required documentation
* Coordinate and provide requirements for test venues, test assets and participants across the DOD community
* Prepare countdown checklists, supporting test planning products and coordinate analysis activities.
* Apply technical expertise to assess test range, weapon system or technology project readiness for testing and advise senior government personnel on test readiness
* Prepare mission execution schedules, logistics coordination and track status and risk
* Interface with other government and range organizations and development contractors
* Assist in directing test operation efforts across test and operations communities to meet programmatic timelines and overcome resource and schedule challenges, as needed
* Facilitate the safety and aircraft modification coordination process
* Aid in operations and maintenance support planning with contract maintenance teams
* Support Operations Officer on coordination of over 500 annual missions, on an as-needed basis


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science
* 10+ years of squadron operations and test and evaluation experience
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Understanding/significant experience with installed aircraft systems/subsystems and support equipment
* Experience/knowledge of avionics/mission systems, munitions systems, and comm/radar systems
* Working knowledge of OSD and Air Force T&E policies
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products with emphasis on MS Project and/or any other scheduling programs
* Active Secret Clearance

Desired Qualifications:
* Active Top-Secret clearance
* Test Pilot School Graduate (USN/USAF)
* Master of Science degree in engineering
* Experience preparing briefings and documentation
* Experience preparing flight test documents; Universal Documentation System (UDS) including Program Requirements Document (PRD) and Operation Requirements (OR)
* Experience preparing mission execution checklists and countdown documents
* Experience testing at various test ranges
