Job Description

Summary:
Participates in research, training, and monitoring programs to protect hospital or laboratory personnel from radiation hazards and to assure compliance with federal, state and university regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with reviewing permits and protocols for radioactive materials use.
  • With oversight from management, review compliance of radioactive materials users.
  • Review dosimeter requests and assign dosimeters as needed.
  • Effectively communicate radiation safety principles with the MU community.
  • With management oversight, inspect facilities that use radioactive materials.
  • Assist with calibrating radiation detection equipment.
  • At the direction of management, perform leak tests and inventories of sealed sources and generally licensed devices.
Shift

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
A Master's Degree is equivalent to two years relevant experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $70,879

Grade: GGS-010

The University of Missouri possesses a broad scope radioactive materials license issued by the NRC that covers clinical and research use in the University Hospital (including the Women's Hospital and the Children's Hospital), the College of Veterinary Medicine and the main campus.
