The Packaging - Process Lead requires knowledge and capability of operating all functions of the plant's processing equipment (e.g. Fryer equipment, packaging /seasoning machines, printers and labelers). Will provide training and development for other operators when required. This position will be responsible to support Maintenance during troubleshooting activities and resolving complex production equipment problems.

Job Title: Production Lead

Reports to: Shift Supervisor.

Location: Kings Mountain, NC.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Schedule: Mon-Friday 02:00 PM - 10:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide leadership for team members to meet or exceed business goals around Safety, Training, Quality, Production, and Cost.
  • Expected to be able to perform all essential functions of a fully qualified Machine Operator.
  • Work closely with Machine Operators, Pelletizers, Packaging equipment as well as Maintenance Personnel.
  • Assists Shift Supervisor with the execution of shift production schedule.
  • Conduct training with new and existing associates.
  • Read production schedule and set-up packaging machines and scales according to schedule.
  • Organizes and directs all clean-up activities as assigned.
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Responsible for quality and food safety tasks
  • Fill in for vacancies of all critical job positions as required
  • Responsible to support / coordinate manufacturing start up, changeovers, and shutdowns.
  • Monitor equipment and report malfunctions to Maintenance, Production Supervisor, or the Plant Manager.
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Non Essential Functions:



  • Requires knowledge of raw materials and inventory management.
  • Assist Operators when not responsible for other duties.
  • Work with management and fellow associates to ensure all policies and procedures are followed and enforced.
  • Report safety, quality, and/or production issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Provide hands on support related to continuous improvement processes.


Required knowledge, skills and abilities:



  • Working knowledge / experience in the manufacturing processes. Specific knowledge of individual food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Ability to learn all production
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work well independently or as an active team member. Must be self-motivated.

  • Responsible to follow all safety rules and work safely at all times.
  • Responsible to report unsafe equipment and practices
  • Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.


Working Conditions:



  • Exposure to Varying temperatures
  • Possible slippery floors due to oil and other manufacturing process.
  • Exposure to Moderate noise
  • Possible exposure to cleaning materials and compounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk 100% of the time with extensive and continuous hand/arm movement.
  • Personal Protective Equipment usage where required.
  • Required to wear non-slip shoes and appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Experience with general mechanic tools (Allen wrenches, screw drivers, etc.).
