2025 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light's internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

• Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
• Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH's Hybrid Work Model (described below).
• Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricularactivities.
• Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Overall Purpose:

Becoming a top-performing utility requires forward thinking, the ability to balance risk and strict compliance with ever-changing federal regulations, and strong governmental relations - which is where the Office of General Counsel (OGC) department comes in.

The OGC leverages the synergies between legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, collectively providing corporate services to DQE Holdings LLC, Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Duquesne Light Company and DQE Communications.The OGC also includes the Corporate Secretary function for all Duquesne entities, including the governance of the ownership group and the Board of Directors.

The OGC seeksintern(s) for full-time (40 hours/week) positionsfor the Summer 2025 Internshipprogram.

Education/Experience:

Education Required: Second year law student at an accredited law school.

Experience Preferred: Prior business experience.

Skills/Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Other:

Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Hybrid Work:

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
