Position Title:Plumber Lead Department:Facilities Engineering Job Description:

General Description:

Under limited supervision, performs maintenance-plumbing work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and related systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs a variety of plumbing fixtures such as: sinks, lavatories, toilet units, bathtubs, shower units, automatic flush valves, faucets, traps, etc.
  • Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs sewer, water, gas, steam, and airlines.
  • Installs and repairs pipe coverings.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and written instructions.
  • Confers with supervisor concerning construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair projects.
  • Submits material and time estimates on construction, alteration, and repair projects.
  • May oversee the work of and assign tasks to other workers.
  • Must be able to join on-call rotation.
  • Must have knowledge Medical Gas systems and equipment associated with medical gas systems
  • Must maintain testing reports and certifications of work performed on medical gas systems.
  • Trains new employees.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: None required. Trade school in plumbing preferred.

Experience: 2 or more years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber required.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:

  • State of Oklahoma Plumbing Contractor's license required.
  • Must maintain an American Society for Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) 6010 and ASSE 6040 Medical gas licenses.
  • Must maintain a valid Oklahoma State Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Position requires good physical condition, strength, agility, and endurance.
  • Must have good motor and eye/hand coordination with sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform the requirements of the job.
  • Ability to move and carry tools and equipment up to 50lbs repetitively.
  • Ability to travel to various locations on campus.
  • Ability to work in small spaces.
  • Knowledge of the principal methods, materials, fixtures, tools, and equipment utilized in maintenance plumbing.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and written instructions.
  • Ability to plan work and supervise the activities of unskilled and semi-skilled helpers.
