Reporting directly to the Product Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineering Co-Op is responsible for detail design and engineering documentation of Spacesaver product lines. Primary responsibilities include design support for new products, and maintenance of existing products to support performance, manufacturing, quality, and cost improvements.

This position is a co-op and will be a full-time role during either the Spring or Fall 2025 Semester.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.



  • Produce designs and documentation in a timely fashion to meet project deadlines set forth by supervisors, project engineers, or team leaders
  • Utilize ProEngineer/Creo to generate solid models and drawings to accurately and completely document product designs
  • Produce detailed component and assembly drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standard, as well as Spacesaver standards and ISO work instructions
  • Responsible for drawing accuracy and clarity relating to views, dimensions, tolerances, fits, clearances, and product structure
  • Maintain proper documentation and follow procedures for projects, engineering change orders, and release of product as outlined in ISO work instructions
  • Contribute to the design of new products by providing ideas, concepts, analysis, critical thinking, and documentation
  • Coordinate or participate in prototype build and testing, and reporting of test results
  • Interface with and work under the direction of design engineers to insure drawings accurately convey the product design intent

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated solid modeling and drafting capability, preferably with ProEngineer/Creo,
  • AutoCAD experience is also beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience with sheet metal design and modeling is preferred.
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet use.
  • Good oral, written, organizational, time management and communication skills are essential.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects under time restrictions with accurate and complete results.
  • Ability to participate and/or conduct prototype builds, testing, and report results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with all personnel throughout the organization.
