TDX Power (TDXP) is recruiting for the position of Assistant Utility Operations Manager. This is a regular, full-time position based in Anchorage, AK that reports to the Utility Operations Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

Support the Utility Operations Manager with all aspects of TDX Power Rural Village Utility Operations. Provide oversight of all daily responsibilities, including technical support, coordinating of maintenance, repairs, materials, and equipment, ensuring that the operation of the utility plants is efficient, within budget and provide a quality product to our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Provide daily preventive maintenance and repair on plant system.
  • Perform trouble-shooting analysis on generator sets.
  • Oversight of all Operators for TDX Adak Generating (TAG), Sand Point Generating (SPG), Manley (MAN) Generating, and SPW
  • Provided direction and guidance in the operation of diesel engines and alternators
  • Fill in as needed as an operator in all locations
  • Develop maintenance programs for all generation assets and implement them in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Work on daily reports and end-of-month (EOM) reports
  • Perform routine mechanical, electrical and construction duties and provide direction and guidance for these duties to Operators
  • Oversee projects assigned by Manager
  • Oversee Contractors
  • Monitor and safely operate generation set per written guidelines.
  • Responsible for the procurement of all part and supplies required for the project.
  • Without direct supervision, solve practical problems with a variety of variables.
  • Manage emergencies and special support work, such as utility outages and/or any special event(s).
  • Provide recommendations for the Engineering and Design for any modifications to the existing facility.
  • Operate a Maintenance Management System, upload data and track on the daily and monthly data reports.
  • Perform all meter reading duties.
  • Coordinate all work with workers and/or consumers
  • Coordinate assigned work priorities.
  • Responsible for preventative, protective and repair maintenance programs, and oversee quality control inspections.
  • Act in the role of Public Relations and serve as a central point of contact for customers in various locations.
  • Respond to consumer complaints.
  • Comply with all required environmental health and safety programs.
  • Assist on light building maintenance, daily upkeep/housekeeping, and snow removal.
  • Must maintain and have an obligation to ensure that all site personnel are appropriately trained in required job skills and duties.
  • Arrange housing and vehicle rental for employees/contractors who are on site to perform work on various TDX Power projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School diploma or equivalent and technical school certificate or 18 months of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in remote monitoring or similar activity.
  • Working knowledge of principles of electrical distribution including transformers, power cables, meters, circuit breakers, pumps, etc. is required.
  • Working knowledge of principles of diesel generation construction and operations to include, but not limited to, electrical controls, electrical connections, electrical safeties, fuel control, specifications, testing, troubleshooting, generators, voltage regulators, use of all common trade tools, meters and equipment as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • Demonstrate safety as core competence.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • Must have the ability to relate to and respect people at all levels of the company and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge in utility maintenance methods, practices, schedules, logistics and budgets.
  • A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.
