Exciting opportunity for a Licensed Staff Counselor to work in the in-house counseling center at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California. This counselor will provide therapy, consultation and outreach to members of our exceptionally bright, talented and largely international community. POSITION TITLE: Licensed Staff Counselor (part-time/20 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Staff Counselor to provide counseling, assessment, and consultation to students, scientific and support staff, Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, home to some of the world's most renowned scientists. This position will also have the opportunity to showcase their presentation delivery skills by providing in-house presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Provides counseling to students, faculty and staff (primarily individuals and couples); provides assessments and referrals as needed.
  • Facilitates support groups (i.e. "Self-Compassion" group, "Adjustment to Life in the U.S." group). Creativity and responsiveness to the support needs of this community are encouraged in the development of groups.
  • Develops and implements new and relevant on-site presentations (i.e. "Lunch and Learns").
  • Offers specialty expertise in work with a diverse and inclusive campus community.
  • Helps to manage occasional campus crises with the support of the director and other department heads.
  • Manages counseling records including scheduling, intake, and progress notes and correspondence as needed.
  • Works with administrative assistant to complete outreach tasks (such as development of flyers, brochures, etc).
  • Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.



REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology with licensure to practice independently in the state of California in the associated field.
  • Master's degree in clinical social work with licensure and a minimum of four years' experience may be accepted in lieu of the required Ph.D. or Psy.D.
  • Some experience in counseling, assessment and diagnosis, outreach and consultation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated crisis management skills.
  • Leadership, problem-solving, and public speaking skills.
  • Current knowledge of and adherence to ethical, legal and professional guidelines.
  • Ability to think creatively and work well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).






    COMPENSATION:

    The expected hiring range for this position is $40.69 to $63.58/hourly, commensurate with experience.
