Job Summary:



The Lampe Lab is looking for a full-time (100% time), salaried Professional Research Assistant (PRA) with skills in eukaryotic cell culture, qPCR, Western Blot and general laboratory/biochemistry procedures. Knowledge of microbiology and/or immunology would be beneficial. This position is to support a new NIH R01 award that aims to characterize cytochrome P450 enzymes from the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa). This position currently has guaranteed funding for one year, with the possibility of an extension depending on funding availability.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Culture and maintenance of different human cell lines (e.g. lung cells and hepatocytes)
  • Preparation and maintenance of P. aeruginosa cultures treated under various conditions
  • Sample collection and preparation (e.g. protein and RNA extraction)
  • mRNA qPCR of bacterial and human gene expression
  • Western Blot quantitative analysis of bacterial protein levels
  • Assist with laboratory organization and ordering procedures
  • Assist student researchers with cell culture and sample preparation



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biochemistry, biology or related discipline
  • Experience with culture and maintenance of mammalian cell lines


Condition of Employment



  • Must be willing and able to work occasional weekends


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience conducting gene expression analyses via qPCR
  • Experience in quantification of proteins by Western Blot
  • Basic knowledge of microbiology and/or immuno

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$48,410 - $52,000, depending on qualifications and experience level.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
