The search is for candidates in optimization with applications in machine learning & data science, computational social science, healthcare, or logistics & operations. Applicants should hold an earned PhD or be near completion of their doctoral studies with demonstrated research potential in a related field. A commitment to rigorous and relevant research is essential. The hire will have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration via broad research initiatives and centers, including Optimization and Statistical Learning, Center for Engineering and Health, and Center for Deep Learning in IEMS, and Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience, Institute for Data, Econometrics, Algorithms, and Learning, Institute on Complex Systems, Transportation Center in the McCormick School of Engineering. IEMS offers an undergraduate degree and a machine learning & data science minor, a PhD program, and master's degrees in machine learning & data science and in engineering management. Both the undergraduate and doctoral programs are consistently ranked among the top ten by US News & World Report. This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation. Research discretionary funding will also be provided. Summer salary, including from sponsored projects, may also be available.
