Job Summary

This work will be specific to characterization of human tissues both normal and pathologic in nature to extract physical, chemical and biochemical characteristics. This interdisciplinary project will be in collaboration with Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS), School of Dentistry (SOD), UCSF.

The Lab Assistant will utilize knowledge in biomaterials and various characterization techniques including high resolution light and electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $19.43 - $22.49 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

Required Qualifications

• High schools graduation and one year of laboratory experience, or two years of college, including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences, or an equivalent combination of education/ experience and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in preparing tissue for structural evaluation followed by imaging
• Prior knowledge in biomaterials and various characterization techniques including high resolution light, electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques
