The Division of Infectious Diseases develops ongoing clinical, educational and research programs directed toward the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Working in nine countries, throughout the state. and across campus, the Division's goals include:

  • Coordinating basic and applied research in infectious diseases and fostering collaboration among other investigators and researchers.
  • Coordinating outreach activities with UNC-CH School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology, and other Departments/Centers, as well as appropriate State of North Carolina agencies.
  • Improving clinical care in infectious diseases, including activities related to management of HIV and other infectious diseases; activities related to emerging pathogens, International health, and clinical outreach.
  • Infectious disease prevention activities, including a focus on vaccine development and vaccination practices.

Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to work independently maintaining and monitoring a variety of complex international and domestic contracts and grants accounts. Duties include all post-award issues, reconciliation of expenditures, interpreting allowable expenses, monitoring and approving account transactions, and reporting. Additional requirements include: ability to monitor account balances, provide routine monthly status reports, and when necessary, provide immediate reports to upper management if problems are identified; determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws; establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of related on-campus unties, departmental staff, and the general public; communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Must have substantial knowledge of accounting principles and cost account standards, and the rules and regulations governing the processing of fiscal transactions
  • Must be experienced in the use of computer-based financial systems

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, InfoPorte, and Ramses strongly preferred
  • Experience in grant accounting
