Overview: Horizon Farm Credit seeks a Crop Insurance Specialist to join our team. The qualified candidate may work in the Lewisburg, PA, Martinsburg, PA, Mechanicsburg, PA or Mount Joy, PA branch locations. The hours of operation are typically, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after 6 months of successful employment. In this position, you will provide support to our team of Crop Insurance Agents. The Crop Insurance Specialist will conduct pre-screening incoming inquiries, and communicate with customers, prospects, and internal staff. You will be responsible for handling crop insurance servicing actions, assist sales staff on tasks associated with sales closings, acreage and production reporting and claims. Additionally, you will work in partnership with the crop insurance team to provide high-level of sales support throughout policy processes.

Areas of Responsibility Include:



  • Support respective sales team in areas such as opportunity generation and other support functions related to account maintenance and documentation.
  • Assist customers with questions on their policies and assist in fulfilling customer requests.
  • Act as a final check for policy information prior to documents being sent to insurance providers.
  • Skillfully performs initial pre-screening work related to incoming leads, prospect inquiries, and/or existing customer requests.
  • Assists in generating marketing reports from insurance provider to assist Crop Insurance Agents in marketing efforts.
  • Routinely utilizes CRM and insurance provider reports effectively to help manage customer relationships and enhance team communication.
  • Supports the sales team with portfolio servicing including renewals, policy changes, sales closing, production reporting, acreage reporting and loss claims.
  • May meet with existing customers in the branch to review paperwork and obtain signatures. May contact customers at sales staff discretion for additional information.


Education



  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance or related field.


Experience



  • Generally, minimum to two years of experience in product agricultural (crop) related field.
  • Possess a Property & Casualty insurance license or demonstrates the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.


Preferred Skills



  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Able to manage challenging customer situations.
  • Acquire skills needed to gather the customer information needed to facilitate submission of required documentation for crop insurance products.
  • Basic knowledge of products related to crop insurance with ability to clearly & accurately share with customers.
  • Agricultural background and/or sufficient knowledge of agricultural and horticultural production technology preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to travel to/from other branch offices, customer meetings, etc., as deemed necessary.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000, depending on previous experience
