Senior Director, Global Commercial Strategy Povetacicept Lifecycle Lead

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Director of Global Commercial Strategy reporting to the VP Global Commercial Lead for Povetacicept / Early Pipeline to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. The candidate will take responsibility for global marketing decisions and tactics to support the launch of povetacicept including leading Life Cycle Management, portfolio and commercial strategy development. This will involve shaping global commercial strategy across indications and developing both strategies and resources to be used by the Regions in their interactions with stakeholders for years to come. The successful candidate serves as a voice of the community to ensure patients remain at the center of decisions.

The candidate will play a key role in leading the development of the Povetacicept disease prioritization strategy by identifying and assessing a cohort of diseases where povetacicept has the potential to deliver transformational efficacy for patients. The individual will lead the strategy and assessment of these new indication however collaborate closely with cross-functional matrix and regional colleagues to ensure attainment of corporate objectives and regional alignment. The successful candidate will be strategic, thrive in an environment of uncertainty and rapid change, demonstrate strong leadership, work effectively within cross-functional teams, and have a problem-solving mindset backed by strong analytical skills. The candidate must share our passion for science-based brands that can dramatically improve patients' lives.

As a senior member on the povetacicept team, the successful candidate must be able to role model Vertex's ethics & culture and be committed to developing the next generation of leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and ensure successful indication prioritization for povetacicept, (short-term), develop and implement the commercialization (midterm) and portfolio (long term) strategies including contribiution to the brand development, disease awareness, competitive strategy, go-to-market/launch strategy. Execute in close partnership with the Regions, Market Access, Regulatory and Commercial Manufacturing.

  • Support the Global Commercial Team by developing and driving the povetacicept strategy and providing clear direction for Povetacicept priorities.

  • Represent the Commercial team in projects led by others e.g. label development, initiatives, etc.

  • Partner with RWE and HEOR to continually evolve our understanding of addressable patient populations, providing input to relevant cross-functional teams (ClinDev, GPMA, HEOR).

  • As a senior member of Global Commercial Strategy Povetacicept team they will provide a mentoring/role model to the team.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in life sciences, post graduate preferred.

  • Typically requires 15+ years of work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Prior experience in leading lifecycle management for a multi indication brand including indication sequencing and prioritization and valuation. Prior global experience a key requisite (with in depth experience in immunology and/or renal preferred)

  • Experience in global marketing, new product planning/commercial development as well as commercial operations or analytics desirable, especially involving product launches in highly competitive markets with potential for expansion into multiple indications

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A solid compliance mindset, demonstrated integrity on the job, embrace of the Vertex Values
