We believe in paying people fairly, so we've established a compensation model aimed to ensure everyone at Fearless - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, nationality, or negotiation skills - is given equal pay for equal work. The salary ranges for this position based on location are listed below. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified as a part of our annual salary range review.

Salary

  • AL, FL, GA, TN Residents: $126,294 (min) - $167,340 (mid) - $208,385 (max)
  • NC Residents: $130,200 (min) - $172,515 (mid) - $214,830 (max)
  • DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents: $136,710 (min) - $181,141 (mid) - $225,572 (max)
  • DC Residents: $153,636 (min) - $203,568 (mid) - $253,500 (max)
  • CA, NY, NJ Residents: $158,844 (min) - $210,468 (mid) - $262,093 (max)

  • Baltimore, MD. Must be within commutable distance not to exceed 100 miles.

Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the Finance group within the Finance & Infrastructure Department and providing operational support to the Chief Financial Officer. This role leads the accounting, program support, and operations staff to provide a high level of service and actionable information to both Fearless Executive Leadership and Portfolio Directors. The Director of Finance brings strong written and verbal communication, administrative, reporting, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain a balance among multiple priorities.


Responsibilities and Contributions
Organizational and Leadership Role

  • Independently executes, implements, and manages solutions for the day to day functions of the finance group.
  • Supports the CFO in the oversight, design, implementation, reporting, and maintenance of the organization's financial strategies and key initiatives.
  • Supports the CFO in facility acquisition, expansion, or contraction decisions.
  • Coaches and manages members of the Finance group.
  • Strengthens community in the Finance practice to reinforce the values and culture of the organization.
  • Collaborates cross-departmentally with Programs, Business Development, and People Ops to support the financial functions of the departments.


Functional Role

  • Oversees delivery and manages priorities to ensure the accuracy and completion of financial reporting documents on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, and reviews financial projections, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Coordinates, oversees, and reviews tax work-papers and filing requirements.
  • Advises and provides input on recommended capital expenditures.
  • Coordinates the completion of the annual budget and tracks the progress on a periodic basis.
  • Guides and coordinates all internal and external financial related audits.
  • Maintains accuracy of the balance sheet and P&L Statement.
  • Oversees bimonthly payroll process.
  • Analyzes and reviews record of operating and capital expenditures and collaborates with the Operations Manager and PMO in tracking supplies and project costs.
  • Facilitates key external relationships by selecting key partners, consultants, and vendors in support of Finance operations.
  • Develops and implements Finance and operational procedures to streamline functions.
  • Maintains operational control of the Finance & Infrastructure department budget.
  • Works with the PMO to develop indirect rates and rate targets.
  • Provides routine financial reports and analyses to senior management.
  • Maintains fiscal contract compliance.


Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies
Must-Have Skills

  • 10 years of demonstrated related experience working in finance and finance leadership
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a SME and strategic partner to the business
  • Demonstrated comfort and ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level leadership. Includes the ability to tell stories about company's financial data that informs decision.
  • Experience in the financial field, accounting, and/or financial analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and superb organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, GSuite, and financial planning software.
  • Ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, build relationships, and influence others.


Icing-on-the-Cake Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Prior experience managing a team.
  • Prior experience in federal Government contracting.
