Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist I for the Mason Gross School of the Arts ( MGSA). This position reports to the Director of Communications.

Among the key duties of the position are the

  • Assists with improving the user experience, maximizing MGSA's online presence, and ensuring brand consistency.
  • Approves and publishes web content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout and new pages, quality assurance, streamlining navigation, improving online presence, training, and documentation.
  • Improves workflows for managing web content.
  • Capitalizes on web multiplier effect by creating SEO-enriched content and visual artwork.
  • Adopts content for users consuming information through desktop, tablet, and smart phone devices.
  • Tests web pages for desired information, organization, and graphic effect.
  • Develops and fosters effective media, university, and vendor relationships.
  • Performs in compliance with the procedures, policies, and processes of MGSA and Rutgers University and in a manner that furthers the mission of MGSA and Rutgers University and contributes to organizational and strategic goals.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, web development, graphic design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, editing, proofreading, publishing, promotional advertising, organization, coordination, and/or facilitation.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in web content management of web production role.

Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good communication skills, and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio recording, editing, information architecture, user experience, web standards, web accessibility, content management systems and best practices for web design and development.
  • Ability to create photos and graphics.
  • Strong creativity, curiosity, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of content management systems, particularly Drupal and WordPress website editing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with search engine optimization.
  • Some familiarity with HTML.

Equipment Utilized

  • Microsoft Office applications (including Excel).
  • Adobe Creative Cloud.
