Job Purpose:

Provides the necessary service relative to Health, Safety and Environmental activities and provides guidance to promote an effective HSE program. The position supports all Alaska Operations office, fabrication and project related initiatives and individuals in an effort to eliminate hazards in the work place that could cause property damage, injury, illness or harm to the environment.

Reports directly to the Assurance Director, Canada and Alaska, and operationally to Vice President, Alaska Operations on all HSE program and operational matters.

Alaska operations HSE managers will report directly to this position.

The position is located in Anchorage and requires a minimum 1 week per month trip to the North Slope. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

Essential Job Functions:

* Exercises responsibility and authority for managing and planning the operations of the safety, environmental, health and fire prevention for Alaska Operations or all office locations, constructions projects and operating facilities.

* Manages and directs work directly or through supervisors or professionals leading others. Makes decisions as to the selection, training, discipline and remuneration of staff. Assigns program work that involves several projects and sets policy framework for project work

* Represents company in meetings with the client, governmental agencies, contractors and insurance companies to resolve immediate safety issues.

* Works with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance. Influence over duties.

* Receives administrative direction based on organization policies and objectives. Work is reviewed to ensure conformity with policy and for coordination of other company departments

* Reviews incident response and investigtion including immediate notification of Assurance Director, Canada and Alaska, and Vice President, Alaska Operations regarding incident particulars. Reviews investigation, identification of causes and execution of root cause analysis pursuant to requiremnts of Company Event Recording and Reporting Standard and North Slope Specific Incident Management Policy. Is repsonsible for the completion or delegation of incident reports. Incident Classification and communication will be determined in cooperation with Assurance Director, Canada and Alaska.

* Influence and accountability in budget development and spend.

* Must follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.

* Ensures that the safety department provides the requisite assistance in support of company activities.

* Assumes overall responsibility and authority for the safety department.

* Support proposal development

* Must be able to travel to North Slope AK and throughout Alaska to support project operations.Minimum one week per month.

* Attend training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Ability to troubleshoot and develop tactical plans for implementing organizational goals and oversee the design of new concepts and ideas related to projects as well as functional area of expertise.

* Broad knowledge of functional area and ability to implement and lead organizational project change effectively; Solutions are derived from interpreted and applied general information and consultation with other individuals.

* Expert understanding of broader systems, processes and tools related to field. Able to teach and help others. May be involved in the development of new systems, processes and tools.

* Possess current knowledge of educational business development and organizational practices.

* Have excellent written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization.

* Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.

* Knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry Safety Practices.

* Knowledge of OSHA Safety regulations.

* Knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, and web-based applications.

* Ability to apply knowledge into presentable material.

* Positive and effective communication skills.

* Ability to prioritization and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work outside of the Anchorage office is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or listen. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Visual Acuity: must be adequate to perform all required Job Description tasks in a safe manner. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is usually done in an office setting and sometimes at a client facility or job site.

Basic Qualifications:

* University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

* 10+ years relevant experience including supervisory, project management and/or technical experience.

* Professional designation such as CSP, OHST, or CHST.

* Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.

* North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Arctic experience.
