Purpose of Position

Frasca is seeking individuals who have solid experience in the areas of Fiberglass Composites Fabrication and/or Industrial Painting to construct the exterior components of our various flight training devices and flight simulators.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Applying basic laminating, trimming, fitting, bonding and assembly skills.
  • Laminating parts by applying polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins.
  • Spraying chopped fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto prepared molds
  • Cutting, bending, forming, sanding, grinding, and gluing using a variety of materials.
  • Trimming excess materials.
  • Prepare aluminum, steel, and plastics for painting.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, make adjustments as necessary.
  • Select appropriate coatings, paint, or sprays to prepare them by mixing substances according to formulas using automated paint mixing equipment.
  • Set up and operate machines to paint or coat products with such materials as silver and copper solution, rubber, paint, glaze, oil, or rust-proofing materials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with fiberglass and/or other similar fabrication materials.
  • Skilled at using general power tools and fabricating equipment.
  • Ability to work with different types of materials including fiberglass, body filler, and/or painting equipment.
  • Experience with paint booth, paint guns and mixers, industrial pressure pots and vacuum chambers.
  • Fork truck license
  • Respirator training

Minimum Education

High School Diploma/GED, associate degree preferable

Minimum Experience

One to five years related experience. Auto bodywork experience or training a plus.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
