Position Description

The Senior Manager, Merchandise Analytics is a key role within the Finance team, responsible for driving the financial strategy and analysis across merchandise channels at Petco, including retail stores and eCommerce. Works in partnership with senior merchandising leadership to provide strategic and analytical leadership supporting sales, margin, expenses, and other KPI's to drive results. Provides ad hoc financial analysis to support Sr. Leadership and works cross functionally with Merchants, Planners, Inventory and Consumer analytical teams to analyze performance issues, develop actionable insights, and provide recommendations. Leads and develops a team that will support our business partners and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

* Partner with merchandising leadership and finance on strategic and analytical initiatives.

* Complete complex analyses in all aspects of Petco's merchandise business to help senior leadership understand and answer critical business issues and questions. This includes facilitating cross-functional projects to gather information, perform analysis, and present results with informed recommendations.

* Manage and develop a high-performing analytics team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

* Develop and monitor key performance metrics to track the effectiveness of merchandising strategies and make data-driven recommendations to improve performance.

* Partner with IT and engineering teams to build data pipelines and infrastructure to support the development of models and analytics.

Requirements

* Bachelor's or advanced degree in finance, data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.

* At least 7 years of experience in finance, data science, analytics, or a related field.

* At least 3 years of experience leading and managing teams.

* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL, and experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.

* Advanced proficiency in financial software & systems and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

* Experience in retail or e-commerce is required
