Summary:

The Senior Accountant position provides research and guidance for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulated interstate gas and common carrier companies on regulatory accounting matters. The Senior Accountant will assist in our FERC compliance efforts through reporting, reviewing, and approving FERC account mappings, training and reviewing current processes and procedures. The position offers the opportunity to interact with various management teams and their staffs on a variety of accounting subject matters. The position will offer technical guidance for accounting requirements of the FERC as set forth in the applicable Uniform System of Accounts, published accounting releases and LEPA industry guidelines to existing and future processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Research and document accounting issues regarding GAAP guidance as applied to regulated accounting and document FERC to GAAP differences
  • Review and approve new account mapping to FERC accounts
  • Facilitate creation and maintenance of SAP reports to enhance regulated accounting compliance
  • System Administrator of XBRL FERC filing module and departmental SharePoint site
  • Review current processes and procedures for compliance with the FERC guidance and industry guidelines
  • Respond to ad hoc requests and special projects as required

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Excel and Word proficient



Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:



  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 8+ years of relevant job related experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • CPA preferred
  • SAP software experience
  • Report writing and maintenance a plus (Analysis for Office, BPC, TM1)
