The GOM Operations Geologist will be part of the GOM Asset Dev ST Ops Geology Department and will support the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit in managing both short and long term planning as well as in controlling program execution while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This will be done by working closely with the Assets, Plants and Operational Support groups to gather, analyze and reconcile all necessary data to allow execution of these plans.



Qualifications

Qualifications Required



  • Demonstrated experience in Geoscience, with a passion for working in 24/7 operational settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of technical specialists and partners as necessary, as is the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to create integrated products.
  • BSc Degree or equivalent in Geology or related sciences
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the oil/gas industry
  • Basic interpretation skills of real-time data, open hole Wireline/LWD data, mudlogging data, and drilling information.
  • Proficiency in real-time pore pressure fracture gradient monitoring & ability to incorporate real-time data for pore pressure fracture gradient interpretation.
  • Exposure and Experience with:


* Open Hole Wireline Logging (including rotary coring and fluid sampling)

* Open Hole LWD

* Conventional core operations

* Mudlogging

* Real-time operations

Qualifications Desired:



  • MS Degree in geology
  • Proficiency in standard geological software (DecisionSpace, Predict, Petrel, Petrosys, IP, & Geologix)
  • Experience wtih deepwater offshore wellsite and operations geology.
  • Experience generating pre-drill pore pressure modeling.
  • Experience with well planning.
