Program Supervisor (Full time)

Position Summary:

This position is based in a drop-in center for youth ages 14-24 from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We are in need of a dynamic individual that is passionate about working with this age group and hard to serve individuals. The Program Manager works closely with the Director, staff and clients to ensure the smooth operation of all HYC programming through a trauma-informed lens.

The clinical side of the position is milieu and training based, meaning billable hours and appointments are not applicable. This allows for the clinician to spend the time needed to support our clients, support staff by conducting crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed, and to ensure that the staff is always current on their training to best support our youth.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Oversee Programming Operations Support: Become familiar with all program funding contracts and their expected outcomes, ensure that all outcome reports and databases are being managed correctly by appropriate staff. Oversee all youth center operations alongside the Director. Delegate tasks to staff and support staff where and when needed to ensure that contract expectations and outcomes are met and appropriately documented. Oversee the daily operations of the HYC including services, programs, workforce development programs, funder's needs and clinical supports of both staff and youth. Distribute requested information to other staff as appropriate and follow-up as needed to ensure responses are completed accurately and on-time.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Become familiar and develop partnerships with organizations throughout the state, specifically in the Woonsocket and Northern RI region. Serve on committees and/or partnerships that are in the best interest of the HYC per Director. Outreach to potential partners/collaborations throughout the state that may benefit the population we serve, especially employer partners, mental health resources and potential funding opportunities. Work closely with Director to identify and pursue a diversified approach to funding to fiscally stabilize programs.
  • Provide Clinical Case Management, Supervision and Project Management: Work individually with youth on any barriers that they might present. Connect them with resources or services that may assist in meeting a youth (and their family's) current needs. Support and guide staff when needed to ensure that every interaction with youth is purposeful, supportive and trauma informed. Provide support to youth on a continuous basis that may help in the areas of self-esteem building, harm-reduction, communication, etc. Be able to connect youth with further mental health resources when appropriate. Complete projects and /or potential funding opportunities as assigned that may require extensive research, analysis and writing. Delegate assignments and tasks to support staff as appropriate. Manage staff performance, provide guidance and training, write and conduct performance appraisals. Assist Director and/or Manager with bi-weekly staff supervisions and weekly team meetings including creation of appropriate agendas and performance plans.
  • Crisis Intervention and De-escalation: Support Director and staff to intervene in any crisis situations that may arise with youth. Be able to assess youth to safety and connect youth with appropriate emergency services depending on the severity of the situation and youth's mental well-being. Communicate with any internal or external mental health providers in which a youth may currently be receiving services. Continue to train and support staff in their journey to be as trauma informed and holistic as possible in offering wrap around services to youth clients.

Education and Experience:

Supervisory experience preferred. Effective delegation skills and ability to coordinate the work of others.

  • Strong organizational, administrative and time management skills. Initiative and judgement to independently problem solve and prioritize. The ability to independently develop and implement short and long term goals.
  • Experience with youth in diverse, urban settings.
  • Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Youth centered, youth focused framework and thoughtfulness.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google platforms.
  • This position requires a strong commitment to promoting diversity.
  • Ability to work one evening a week.
  • Willingness to be the first person to jump in to solve problems.
