The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

Within the National Systems Group, the Systems Engineering & Launch Division (SELD) is seeking a motivated Radar Enterprise Senior Project Engineer to lead Aerospace contributions to the GEOINT Enterprise Capability Area for the customer's Systems Engineering Directorate, Office of Chief Engineer. The Radar Enterprise Systems Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering) contributes to Aerospace activities for end-to-end architecture, engineering and integration of the customer's leading-edge space and ground Radar programs.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, Virginia, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver emerging architectures for the customer's Systems Engineering Directorate Radar Portfolio Manager, including the following services:
    • Development, evaluation, and maturation of Radar architecture concepts
    • Integration of existing, planned, and emerging systems towards optimal resilient and assured Radar architectures
    • Identification, coordination, and mitigation of system, enterprise, and joint Radar risks with emphasis on leveraging Aerospace engineering reach-back to address emerging risks
    • Prototype development and deployment of Digital Engineering solutions to enhance design and evaluation of Radar architecture solutions
    • Development and delivery of enterprise and system Radar performance assessments to track and influence acquisition and operations readiness
    • Planning and execution of system verification, validation, and test (VV&T) concepts, including exploration of innovative concepts for Radar VV&T
  • Develop broad views of needs and expanding capabilities to drive customer (National Systems Group) and community-wide (Defense Systems Group and Space Systems Group) architecture, acquisition, and integration.
  • Influence collaboration and coordination across Aerospace acquisition office leaders and Aerospace engineering reach-back to develop solutions for enterprise issues and apprise Aerospace senior corporate leadership on customer challenges and related Aerospace accomplishments.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements - Senior Project Engineer- Enterprise Systems Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical discipline.
  • Minimum 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience.
  • Relevant technical, programmatic, and engineering Radar domain experience.
  • Experience within multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments, including the ability to work across architectural, engineering, and analytic domains and across all phases of development, design, and system acquisition.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior customer leadership and successfully function within mixed teams comprised of senior government, FFRDC, and CAAS/SETA personnel.
  • Willing to travel [occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally] approx. 10% of the time.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • An advanced degree in an appropriate technical discipline.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts, methods, and practices.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace engineering reach-back capabilities and experience with identifying tasks and managing engineering reach-back support.
