Apogee is actively seeking a full-time Senior Systems Architect supporting US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) NC3 Enterprise Center (NEC) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) at Ft. Meade, MD.

The SE&I Division serves as the principal enterprise systems engineering, enterprise architecture, and technical authority for the NC3 Enterprise within the Department of Defense. As the lead NC3 Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) arm of the NC3 Enterprise Center, the division applies and remains up to date on systems engineering best practices and translates mission and operational requirements into appropriate technical specifications and solutions. SE&I also has the responsibility to apply established standards, and, when necessary, develop new standards, to ensure seamless interoperability across the NC3 enterprise. The SE&I is comprised of 3 branches:



  • Enterprise Sustainment & Evolution
  • Enterprise Performance & Capabilities
  • Enterprise Mission Management

What you will be doing:



  • Collaborating with information engineers to establish system information requirements for NC3 enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems.
  • Responsible for the production of quality architecture documents/artifacts leveraging the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF) and/or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
  • Designing NC3 architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
  • Evaluating problems of workflows, organization, and planning and developing appropriate corrective action
  • Incorporating reference models and profiles of standards into specifications for Information Management solutions
  • Assess the NLCC/NC3 architecture using computer simulations and models to evaluate how well communications work in a benign and stressed nuclear environment; generate reports and briefs using the results


Minimum Requirements:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must have an active TS w/SCI eligibility
Education: BS or BA in engineering, computer science, or educational equivalent
Years of experience: 10 years' experience in systems architecture, establishing requirements, design, and ensuring interoperability for information management systems or enterprises with:


  • Experience with Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model, as they apply to the implementation and specification of Information Management (IM) solution of the application platform across the application program interface (API), and the external environment/software application
  • Experience with establishing system information requirements in developing enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Designing architectures to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements and provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Evaluating problems of workflows, organization, and planning and developing appropriate corrective action
  • Ability to work well within a team and to execute tasks independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong command of MS Office suite tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, and Sparx EA
  • Relevant experience with NC3 Enterprise Center (NEC) or equivalent relevant experience at the Joint Staff, Service Headquarters, or Combatant Command level

Certifications:

  • Enterprise Architecture Certification desired
  • TOGAF and DODAF Certifications desired

Education: Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field
Years of experience: 3+ years supporting USSTRATCOM weapon systems and/or capabilities desired

Regular part-time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.

  • The base pay for this position ranges from $150,000 to $220,000 across the U.S. There is a different range applicable for specific work locations. Base pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, training, and education.
