Medical Assistant SOM - Gastroenterology Full Time 81105BR Job Summary Under supervision of the Practice Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients being seen in the practice. The assistant will perform assigned patient care procedures in support of the care services provided to patients within the practice. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. The assistant also assists with front and back office responsibilities, which include scheduling, pre-registering, verifying insurance, obtaining referrals and authorizations and coordination of required medical and financial information. S/he works as a team member with other staff and consistently projects a professional, caring and courteous demeanor. Hospital Assistant III is responsible for the efficient patient flow and provides support to multiple physicians. The assistant communicates with referring physicians' offices, and serves a liaison for the outside providers. The assistant is responsible for insurance authorizations and pharmacy refills, as well as complicated treatment authorizations and hospital admission arrangements. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate).
