A Neuro-Oncology laboratory led by clinician-scientist Soma Sengupta, MD, PhD, MBA, and researcher Daniel Krummel, PhD, in the Neurosurgery & Neurology departments at UNC School of Medicine is seeking a Research Specialist 'Lab Manager'. The Sengupta-Krummel laboratory is pursuing translation-focused research that is at the interface of cancer, neuroscience, and immunology. The laboratory therefore seeks a 'Lab Manager' with experience ideally in cancer biology, immune-oncology, and neuroscience or brain tumor biology. The 'Lab Manager' will be responsible for the daily management of a research laboratory, participation in preparing posters and publications, participation in training and supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate trainees, database management, safety oversight, and operational oversight of common laboratory equipment including microscope and plate reader, etc.

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The applicant should possess experience in culturing techniques of cancer, neural, and immune cells; immune cell isolation methods; flow cytometry techniques; Western blot and other common molecular biology techniques; analysis of mouse imaging data such as bioluminescence; analysis of immune-histochemistry slides; mouse planning and execution of mouse experiments including survival analysis.

Research lab experience preferable.
