Position Summary
This position will serve as a Departmental Accountant and will be responsible for managing department funding in areas including grants (pre- and post-award), contracts, clinical trials, trust, State, overhead, cost and re-charge centers. The Accountant will monitor, analyze, and consult on department accounting and finance related activities. The position incumbent will manage department financial obligations, compile and analyze financial reporting for the department programs and serve in an advisory capacity on financial matters. This position will function as a ConnectCarolina Level 1 budget approver for the department and assist the Department ACA and Finance leadership with the preparation, analysis and presentation of financial reports and the monitoring of the departmental budget and funds flow.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Entry-level with Masters; or Bachelors and 0-2 yrs experience
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • This position requires exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask effectively to work on different projects and accounts while adhering to specific deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Extensive and demonstrated computer skills and experience in standard office and financial management systems.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Previous experience in a university, research, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience with ConnectCarolina, PeopleSoft, and Infoporte preferred.
