This position is responsible for performing mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment in the Truck Driving and Diesel Technology programs. This position will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs as needed to ensure that equipment remains in excellent condition.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair various program equipment and vehicles, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems to ensure that they are in safe and operational condition
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, making necessary repairs or arranging for external repairs when required and authorized by the Associate Dean
- Maintain accurate records of equipment and vehicle inventory, including serial numbers, maintenance history, and replacement schedules. Maintain records of activities, repairs, and inspections, including generating reports on equipment status, maintenance schedules. Assist the Associate Dean with developing the annual equipment maintenance budget.
- Coordinate the procurement of replacement parts, supplies, and equipment in collaboration with the Associate Dean
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures and provide necessary training
- Work with instructors and program staff to understand equipment needs for training purposes. Provide support during practical exercises and simulations as needed
- Monitor and maintain a clean and safe shop and work area
- Maintain required certifications and keep current on emerging trends
- Attend meetings and trainings as required. May assist with program recruitment efforts, such as semi-annual Open Houses events.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to drive vehicles to test drive for diagnosis after repairs or to deliver/pick-up equipment
- Knowledge of specialized equipment, practices, and tools required for assigned program vehicles and equipment maintenance
- Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices
- Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, technical and non-technical information, and listening
- Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision
- Basic level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and/or publishing
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - LEVEL I:
- Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Associate's degree in a related field is preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years' work experience of diesel repair diagnosis and heavy equipment repair. Proven experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in Truck Driving and Diesel Technology, or similar field
- ASE certifications preferred
- In evaluating candidates for this position, the College may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position
- Employment offer and continued employment is contingent upon a valid Wisconsin driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Valid CDL-A license required
