Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
Practicum education is an integral component of social work education at
FSU. The Practicum education program is governed by the mission, goals, objectives, foundation curriculum, advanced curriculum, and the policies and standards of the Council on Social Work Education (
CSWE). The Practicum education experience affords students the opportunity to promote the development of professional competence and to integrate and apply knowledge, skills, and values of generalist and advanced social work practice. It is designed so that students demonstrate competency of the
MSW Program objectives. The Director of Practicum Education provides leadership in all aspects of the
MSW Practicum Education Program.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The School of Social Work at Fayetteville State University invites nominations and applications for the
MSW Practicum Education Director position. The Director is responsible for the overall administration of the School of Social Work graduate practicum education program. The position is an eleven-month full-time non-tenure track renewable position that reports to the Associate Dean. The academic rank will depend on the successful candidate's graduate education level.
The Director manages the
MSW Practicum Education Program. The Director is responsible for providing curriculum and administrative leadership, coordinating the efforts of the Practicum Team, and recruiting, securing, and developing graduate-level social work practicum placements in compliance with
CSWE accreditation standards.
Other responsibilities include teaching two practicum education seminars, updating practicum education policies and procedures, analyzing student and practicum supervisor's evaluations, providing various practicum reports, managing the practicum education budget in consultation with the Associate Dean, and representing the program on appropriate committees appointed by the Associate Dean. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
- Master of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Work by CSWE.
- Three years post-master's social work practice experience.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a community agency-based practicum instructor.
- Experience in collaborative work at the community level and a demonstrated commitment to successfully working with a diverse population are required.
- Experience with program development, administration, and evaluation.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple demands and responsibilities.
- Expertise in working with groups.
- Intermediate knowledge and skills in MS Microsoft Office, internet, email, computers, graphics, multimedia, spreadsheets, and databases.
