Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Qualification Cell Operator qualifies the various workpieces produced or assembled by the cell. Determines proper fit and form and advises appropriate personnel or problems or concerns. Able to set - up and operate most assembly machines in a cell. Troubleshoots and reworks assemblies produced.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under broad direction and subject to periodic review, performs the following:

1. Sets- up and operates most of the various assembly machines in the cell.

2. Qualifies workpieces by feel, visual inspection and I or using measuring instruments to determine viability. Orders and maintains test equipment such as
test plates, etc. Troubleshoots and reworks assemblies as necessary.

3. Makes recommendations to supervision and works with machinists,
assemblers, etc. to make corrections or enhancements to workpieces to assure
proper fit and functions.

4. Analyzes and reviews documentation specifications for parts produced or assembled in a cell.

5. Provides instruction to assemblers regarding specific issues on parts to assure efficient workflow of assembly operations.

6. Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of cell operations. Uses interpersonal skills as well s good written
and verbal communications. Assists other cell members as required.

Equipment I Process Responsibilities - Performs duties where property, tools, equipment or machines may suffer some damage or man - hours be lost, through improper daily maintenance or lack of considerable care and attention to processing. Sets - up and operates various assembly machines in the cell.

Material or Product Responsibilities -Performs duties that require close attention to work and supporting
documentation specifications and other requirements. Responsible for accuracy
of assembly procedures. Uses thorough knowledge of products, as well as production and assembly methods, to determine the best course of action to quality workpieces for assembly. Visually, by touch, and/or with measuring instruments checks work for proper results.

Responsibility for Work of Others - Accuracy of communications is mandatory to the successful production and qualification of workpieces. Must communicate to appropriate personnel any
problems or concerns regarding quality of work received or time flow of work in progress as it affects production schedules. Works with all levels of non - exempt employees, lead persons, facilitators and supervisor within the assigned cell.

Safety Responsibilities - Within immediate work area and for the safety of self and co- workers in the vicinity, good housekeeping is required. Thorough knowledge of assembly machine safety and adherence to Company safety rules is mandatory.

Initiative and Ingenuity- Requires a moderate amount of initiative in identifying complex problems related to the qualification and production of workpieces. Uses ingenuity in devising solutions to assure best efficiency
of production workflow. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are completed. Performs other work related tasks as deemed necessary by Company needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Surroundings - Work is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations,
the repetitive nature of the job, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment.

Unavoidable Hazards - Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, finger and hand injuries and muscle strains. Exposure to metalworking fluids and airborne particles. Protective equipment and clothing appropriate to the task at hand are required.

EFFORT

Physical- Able to lift up to 25 pounds. Requires hand and finger manipulation to feel parts for proper fit and to use measuring instruments and operate assembly machines. Able to use all tools required for assembly machine set - up and parts
qualification in the cell. Some job assignments require maneuvering to different
areas of the cell and most assignments necessitate continuous sitting and Ior standing for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time.

Mental- Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous. However, assembly machine set - ups are varied and qualifications of parts may require a moderate level of
improvisation and ingenuity. Reasoning ability required to interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications of a complex nature and draw conclusions from a variety of concrete variables. Able to organize workflow with only period
supervision or review.

Visual-Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration. Able to read all precision measuring instruments in the cell as required by essential job functions, such as micrometers, calipers, gauges etc. Must be able to visually check workpieces for quality fit and form, etc.

Qualifications
EDUCATION I TRAINING

Demonstrated abilityto read and write English of a level requiredin Company shop documentsand computer software entry and processing requirements. Must be capable of applying basic mathematical operations including the use of fractions and decimals, as required by complex qualification procedures.

EXPERIENCE

Requires 2 years of both assembly and qualifications work or equivalent skills and knowledge proficiency in:

1. The set - up and operation of most assembly machines, tools and equipment similar or comparable to those used in the cell.
2. Qualifying workpieces similar or comparable to those produced by the cell. Must read precision measuring instruments and blueprints, diagrams or other specification documentation similar or comparable to those used in assembly operations by the Company.

The pay for this position ranges from $24.55 - $30.15 hourly (Depending on experience).
