Location Site: Salem Hospital Main Campus Department: SH Patient Safety and Accredit Position Type: Full Time (Exempt)Start Time: 8:00am (Monday - Friday) Your Role With Us:Patient Safety Consultant and System SpecialistThe Patient Safety role is focused on fostering a culture of safety within the organization to minimize patient harm. The position involves collaboration with various departments to improve safety practices, serve as a consultative partner, and coach operational leaders and healthcare teams on patient safety principles.Key responsibilities include managing patient safety projects, facilitating investigations of safety incidents, and developing actionable plans with measurable outcomes. The role also involves preparing reports for leadership, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and actively participating in the organization's strategic planning related to patient safety.Additionally, the position includes the development and delivery of educational programs to enhance staff understanding of patient safety issues. Data management is crucial, as the role involves generating reports to identify trends and optimizing reporting systems for better data handling.Overall, this role is pivotal in promoting continuous improvement in patient safety through collaboration, education, and data-driven decision-making.Background/Expertise:Education: * BSN required with a Master's Degree preferred. An MSN will be accepted in place of a BSN. Experience: * Minimum of three (3) years of recent acute care nursing experience required, or a minimum of two (2) years of experience in quality, safety, or process improvement in the healthcare setting required. Licenses/ Certification/ Registration: * Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Oregon is required. * Applicable certification, such as, CPPS preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:Relationship Building: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across all organizational levels.Communication: Excellent verbal and writing skills, enabling effective information sharing and teaching.Facilitation & Team Management: Strong skills in facilitating discussions, improving processes, and building cohesive teams.Change Management: Proficient in driving organizational change with professionalism and respect for individuals.Coaching & Teaching: Demonstrated interest in coaching others and guiding teams toward goal attainment and process improvement.Analytical Skills: Established skills in analytical thinking and problem-solving, with a focus on data analysis and reporting.Technical Proficiency: Highly skilled in data design, analysis, and reporting, especially using Excel for data management.Quality Data Experience: Familiarity with quality data and analytics, including root cause analysis.Collaboration: Excellent collaboration and consulting abilities, allowing effective guidance and feedback at all levels.Decision-Making: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to act autonomously while managing varying workloads.Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to follow-through on tasks.Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.Organizational Understanding: Capability to comprehend and articulate organizational strategies and goals.Technical Skills: Proficient in using standard office software and equipment for data management and Kaizen activities.Adaptability: Willingness to challenge the status quo and manage conflicts that arise from change initiatives.
