Summary of Job Duties:The Part Time Library Technician reports directly to the Library Director. The Library Technician is responsible for providing library services by maintaining a welcoming environment conducive to research and study, and enforcing college/library policies. Work will include evening and weekend (Sunday) hours.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
*Assisting patrons in accessing physical and digital library resources, and in basic troubleshooting related to library computers/printers/copiers/scanners
*Performing circulation duties through the library's integrated library system
*Maintaining accessibility of the library collection through daily shelf-reading, adhering to the Library of Congress Classification System
*Assisting in the processing and repair of library materials
*Adhering, at all times, to laws and policies governing student and patron privacy
*Work cooperatively, professionally and respectfully in all interactions and communications
*Assisting in opening and closing duties as scheduled
*Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The formal education equivalent of high school diploma

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the minimum qualifications upon approval of the Chancellor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior work experience in a library environment

Additional Information:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Able to file alphabetically and numerically.

  • Able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse student and employee population

  • Skilled in the use of computers (Microsoft applications)

  • Able to climb a 5 foot library ladder to place books and materials in their appropriate place. Able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 lbs.

  • Knowledgeable of and can observe normal Library practices

Salary Information:

$11 per hour
