SUMMARY:

The Social Developmental Neuroscience Laboratory (PI Dr. Johanna Jarcho) is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to begin in October 2024. Research in the Lab focuses on the neural mechanisms that shape social cognition or increase the risk for and expression of deficits in social competence linked to psychopathology.

The applicants will participate in numerous aspects of research (e.g., recruiting, screening participants, study design and implementation, data collection and analysis), contribute to day-to-day operations of the labs (e.g., various administrative duties, IRB management), and perform other duties as assigned. These positions are ideal for highly motivated individuals who plan to apply to graduate school in psychology or related fields.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree obtained by the start date and at least six months of direct experience in working with autism spectrum disorder populations. Experience in a lab within a psychiatry or psychology department is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
  • Experience working with autistic adolescents
  • Experience with participant recruitment and retention


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Using REDCap
  • Working with statistical computing software (e.g., R, SPSS)
  • Collecting data from participants
  • IRB preparation and management


This is a grant-funded position.
