Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Food Service Specialist performs a variety of food service duties.

We have THREE exciting Nutrition Care Associate openings you may be considered for:

Work Schedule

  • (1) One PRN Opening, As Needed: Shifts assigned 6:30am-9:00pm (Not eligible for benefits)
  • (2) Two Part Time Opening, 24 hours per week (shifts 7am-1pm & 3pm-9pm)

Job Essentials

  • Accurately read patient meal tickets to determine items to place on tray.
  • Appropriately place food items and non-food items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.
  • Examine filled tray for completeness and places on cart. Scan tray tickets at each indicated interval for tray tracking purposes.
  • Deliver patient trays in a timely manner while following proper customer service procedures and proper patient identification procedures as per hospital policy.
  • Review patient meal tickets for tray messages and act accordingly (follow all policies and procedures for high risk patients, food allergies, and diabetic tray delivery).
  • Review any food allergies listed/reported and ensure allergen is not in any foods served to the patient or the customer.
  • Accurately replenish food in cooler according to par lists. Fill in production sheets correctly each day.
  • Demonstrate proper handling, storage, washing, and transporting of all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and dishes.
  • Demonstrate proper HAACP Food Safety/Sanitation guidelines. Record temperature of equipment on the HACCP log daily.
  • Timely report broken or damaged wash ware or utensils to supervisor.Complete cleaning log daily. Keep area and all equipment clean.
  • Maintains an organized and sanitary working environment.
  • Maintains proper quantities of production with appropriate rotation of product.
  • Performs housekeeping functions including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods).
  • Follows HACCP standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Food Handler's Permit (as required by the County).
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle problems and difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated basic math skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of food service or cashier experience.
  • Hospital food service experience.

Additional Job Description

  • Interact with patients and co-workers requiring the employee to verbally communicate information, as well as understand spoken information.
  • Operate food service equipment or computer requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read labels, monitors, and documents.
  • Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting food, supplies, and service equipment.
  • Climb, squat, kneel, and lift to clean equipment and reach and retrieve food and supplies.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator, and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
