JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium (PSGC) within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS)atPenn State University Parkseeks a staff member to serve as anEducation Program Coordinator. This position contributes to the successful implementation and administration of all aspects of the PSGC's mission to expand opportunities in the Commonwealth for U.S. citizens to learn about and participate in NASA aeronautics and space programs and to promote and support diversity in STEM education.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the annual and bi-annual NASA grant reporting requirements, which involves gathering, verifying, validating, assessing, and maintaining data, as well as communicating data effectively in various formats, including spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.

  • Assisting program/project teams with the development and implementation of new and existing programs for K-12 educators, individuals involved in higher education, and community-building events, primarily for PSGC graduate fellows, undergraduate scholars, and interns.

  • Supporting the PSGC's online funding application portals, creating surveys, extracting data, and meeting PSGC's multi-faceted communication needs, including updating outreach materials or online content.

  • Coordinating budget preparation, analyzing data, and initiating payments.

  • Participating in developing marketing strategies to promote programs; overseeing the creation and distribution of marketing materials, advertising, and social media content.

  • Collaborating with the independent evaluator to help with data and aligning with program goals.

  • Monitoring Space Grant email inbox and promptly responding to inquiries and requests.

  • Supporting the preparation and execution of program reviews and reports.

  • Representing the unit at internal and external meetings with stakeholders.

  • Making recommendations on changes/additions to both policies and portfolio of offerings based on customer feedback, evaluations, historical data, and systems capabilities.

  • Assisting in developing operational goals, objectives, and standards for units, programs, projects, etc.

  • Designing layout and formatting project-related documents, web content, and materials.

  • Assisting with online and physical records management in accordance with NASA document storage requirements.

  • Providing occasional similar support to other projects within the Earth and Environmental Sciences Institute (EESI) portfolio.

This position has the potential to work a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. This position typically will be in the office 3 days a week and work remotely 2 days a week. Questions related to hybrid work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience:

This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degreeplus two years ofrelated experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience.

In addition, the successful applicant will have experience withusingMicrosoft Office Suite and other standard business software,with managingdatabases, andhavean interest and aptitude to learn specialized software asneeded.Effective presentation and writing skills, basic reporting skills to analyze data, attention to detail and organization, ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, ability to identify and solve problems independently, and commitment to the ethical and professional handling of sensitive data are required.The successful applicant will display a strong commitment to inclusive practicesthatsupport diversity.

Additional Information:

This is a limited-term staff appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

Penn State offers competitive benefits to full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, in addition to generous vacation time (18 days per year; accrued 12 hours on a monthly basis), sick time (12 days a year; accrued 8 hours on a monthly basis) and paid holidays (14 per calendar year). The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
